95/100- Gold- Halliday Wine Companion
Blewitt Springs fruit. An interesting foray into whole-bunch fermentation. 12 days on skins, with half aged in French hogsheads for 20 months. 50% whole bunches works exceptionally well here, imparting an extra degree of tannic precision and savoury brittle to the incorrigible fruit of the region. Cassis, sage, black olive, bay leaf and a sluice of maritime salinity melting into milk chocolate across the pushy finish. Exceptional tannins here. Cellar to 2034.
95/100, 5 stars The Real Review
Indigo purple colour with a violet rim. Perfumed bouquet of balsamic flowers and sweet spices. Big and bold, rich in taste, tannin and alcohol. Flavours of wild plums, bay leaf and vanilla, generous tannin and sleek mouthfeel, with a finish that persists. To 2032
93/100 The Wine Front
A firm, strong, serious cabernet. Mint, blackcurrant, vanilla and chocolate flavours push persuasively through the palate but it’s the finish that really elevates it. Fine-grained tannin, excellent fruit power, more-or-less integrated/balanced oak and a sustained finish all point to a quality outcome. 2023-29
95/100 Wine Orbit
Offering fabulous fruit purity and elegant complexity, the wine shows cassis, blueberry, cedar, cigar and mixed spice aromas on the nose, leading to a wonderfully weighted palate displaying excellent focus and flow. It's firmly structured by fine chalky tannins, finishing impressively long and engaging. At its best: now to 2034.
From Australia's most distinguished vineyards and winemakers.
The Apollonian theory of Greek mythology entwines two seemingly opposite philosophical elements of the gods and brothers Apollo and Dionysus to create a complete and complex entity. Order and chaos, purity and excess, harmony and passion. Entwined by nature they are at their best when together. The vineyard, the winemaker, the vintage and the moment create the experience.
The Cabernet Sauvignon is from a 70 year old vineyard in McLaren Vale. The ancient soils and elevation of the vineyard offer the perfect conditions for growing high quality Cabernet Sauvignon in small crops giving extreme intensity and complexity.
