95 points Sam Kim

Superbly fruited and perfumed, the bouquet shows black and purple fruit richness with vanilla, spicy oak, olive and floral nuances. It's concentrated and mouthfilling on the palate, delivering awesome fruit intensity and density backed by silky texture and polished tannins, making it delectable and immensely appealing. At its best: now to 2028.

Northern Grounds — includes vineyards in the “parishes” (townships) of Seppeltsfield, Marananga, Stone Well, Greenock, Moppa, Stockwell, Ebenezer and Kalimna. Here the wines are concentrated and rich, with blue and black fruits and firm grainy tannins. This is the more powerful 'ground' within Barossa Valley.
The Barossa was discovered and named (including the clerical error when registering the name) by Colonel Light in 1839 after the ‘Battle of Barrosa’, a battle Light had fought in. We select parcels of fruit from this area to produce this contemporary Australian Shiraz with vibrant fruit, structure, poise and complexity.
