Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon The Ridge 2018
Bright purple in colour. Classic cabernet notes, black fruits, cassis, tobacco, cedar and spice linger on the nose and the palate. The texture is opulent, full-bodied with plenty of powerful fruit riding on big, smooth tannin and a finish that lingers. 2020–2030
93/100 Campbell Mattinson
It’s a firm, solid, densely-flavoured wine. It’s not about brightness; it’s about intensity. It tastes of cloves, gum leaves, blackcurrant, anise and cedar, the latter gently smoked. There’s a firmness to the tannin but the fruit rolls through. This wine feels young and a little backward but it has stuffing; it has quality. It will mature well. 2022-2029
Margaret River is one of the most geographically isolated regions in the world and is heavily regulated by the Southern Ocean trade winds. The Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge runs through the region on which a mosaic of vineyards provide fruit for this wine.
Our growers here us biodynamic principals to farm vineyards exposed to the moderating westerly trade winds from the Indian Ocean. This is an ideal place to grow clean and pure ultra-premium fruit for our Cabernet Sauvignon.
