Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc Witchcliffe 2020
94 points Sam Kim
'Intensely aromatic and instantly appealing, the bouquet shows green rockmelon, jalapeno, kaffir lime and lemon peel aromas, leading to a concentrated palate that's juicy and lively. The wine offers terrific fruit purity and vibrancy backed by textural mouthfeel and racy acidity, finishing impressively long and attractive. At its best: now to 2026'
Margaret River is one of the most geographically isolated regions in the world and is heavily regulated by the Southern Ocean trade winds. The Witchcliffe subregion in southern Margaret River is far cooler than the northern regions, perfect for austere apple and citrus flavours melding with the small portion of oak fermentation to create a serious Sauvignon Blanc. Beautifully balanced acid, fruit weight and sugars make this an exciting wine for today and a few years time.
