94 points 5 stars Sam Kim. Aug 2019.

This is gorgeously expressed on the nose showing blackberry, dark plum, vanillin oak, olive and roasted nut characters, followed by a succulent palate that is plump and flavoursome. It is generous and comforting with loads of tasty flavours. At its best: now to 2027.

Northern Grounds — comprises vineyards in the parishes of Gomersal, Tanunda, Nuriootpa, Dorrien and Light Pass. A difficult area to define as there are dramatic differences in soil type across this section of the Barossa landscape. Each wine has the Barossa Valley signature, but with a different expression; sometimes more like the north, other times more like the south — it depends very much on the climate and soil of each site and how the grower manages the site.

Produced by some of Australia's most famous and awarded winemakers for Epic Negociants, we work with exceptional growers throughout the Barossa Grounds, identifying parcels of fruit and bringing them to life.

The Barossa was discovered and named (including the clerical error when registering the name) by Colonel Light in 1839 after the ‘Battle of Barrosa’, a battle Light had fought in. We select parcels of fruit from this area to produce this contemporary Australian Shiraz with vibrant fruit, structure, poise and complexity.
