We have all seen too many examples of agriculture and commerce having a hugely detrimental effect on the environment, such as the garbage patches of up to 700,000 square kilometres that litter our oceans. We want to make sure that our business doesn't compromise the natural beauty and environment of Australia that we are so lucky to live in.
Thankfully there is an abundance of excellent sustainable grapes grown in Australia, so we can afford to be picky to find only the best grapes from vineyards that have Sustainable Australia Winegrowing, Organic or Biodynamic accreditation. Our packaging is fully recyclable, glass, tin & paper. The majority of our operations are online, and avoid the use of paper printing, and delivering direct from the winery to customers reduces the carbon footprint of the supply chain. These accreditations and approach combine to produce wines which represent iconic Australian vineyards at the highest quality level.
To further this cause, we have partnered with The Ocean Cleanup, by committing to providing 5% of profits to their great cause. The Ocean Cleanup develops advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. A full-scale deployment of their systems is estimated to clean up 50 % of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 5 years.
What is biodynamics? Biodynamics is like supercharged organic farming. Biodynamic farming was established by Rudolf Steiner in 1924 in response to farmers’ concerns of the negative impacts chemical fertilisers were having on soil and livestock health at the time. It has become the agricutural practice of the world's top wine producing Domaines and Estates and is considered the pinnacle of winemaking purity. It is a holistic approach to agriculture which encompasses spiritual, ethical and ecological approaches and strives to co-operate with influences from the wider cosmos. Biodynamic farmers cultivate, plant and harvest on a schedule that reflects the natural rhythms of the earth’s rotation as well as the regular patterns of the Sun, Moon and planets and builds healthy, well structured soils rich in humus and high in biological activity. This is done by using biodynamic preparations made from farm sourced materials consisting of manure, minerals and herbs in combination with composting, manuring, crop and pasture rotations, tree planting and livestock integrated into the farming system. This leads to enhancements in the nutritional density, vitality, flavour and keeping quality
